Challenge
Last week, we had the opportunity to test the Kairos technology at a large company operating in the metal surface treatment industry. The aim was to verify the effectiveness of our solution in various industrial conditions and to assess its impact on the quality and efficiency of production processes. The company in question specialises in painting large-scale spatial structures made of galvanised components, which require the highest resistance to harsh weather conditions.
Technological challenges
A key concern was to ensure the high resistance of the paint coating to extreme weather conditions. Galvanised structures are used in both humid and frigid ocean climates and in regions of extreme heat. In addition, the company struggles with the limited length of the production line, which results in phosphate transfer to the scrubbers, leading to streaking and reduced surface quality. An additional problem is intensive sludging, which affects the permeability of spray nozzles, destabilising process parameters and increasing bath maintenance costs.
Running the tests
To assess the effectiveness of the technology Kairos, the company invited us for tests during which:
- We have used a mobile pressure washer to easily apply our product, eliminating the need for complex installations.
- We prepared a working solution by adding a measured amount of concentrate to water, which highlighted the ease of implementing our solution.
- We carried out surface treatment of galvanised components, testing the effectiveness of our technology under real production conditions.
Technological results and benefits
Upon completion cleaning process for galvanised components and drying of the components proceeded with the application and polymerisation of the paint coating. We then carried out an incision grid test, which showed the highest possible adhesion of the coating (GT0). These results confirmed that Kairos technology effectively improves the quality of surface preparation, reducing the risk of coating defects.
Summary and further research
To assess the long-term effectiveness of our solution, the prepared samples were submitted to corrosion tests. The results of these will determine the durability of the coating and its resistance to aggressive operating conditions, a key aspect for structures operating in harsh environments.
